More work!

I am SO exhausted!!!
I spent several hours today hauling and setting rock.
I quit long before my husband did...but that was to be expected.

Before....

I know that is a rather strange large pile of mulch there in the center...hey, don't ask me, I have not idea why it is there! Somethings you don't question!

After-ish! Still lots to do.

Here is another one of those before's...notice Shelby over there to there to the left.

This was just before she charged an unsuspecting jogger.
It was rather embarrassing.
The fellow just shook his head, thankfully!
I don't have an after available for you...I just thought my dog was funny looking in this!

Tomorrow we are taking a break from work and heading to the zoo for a family day.
Oh, don't worry, I will take my camera!

In the meantime, you can play search and find with this photo!

It's not hard really, but all I have got for today!

Okay, supper needs to be served, so I am off!

No time for words!

Okay, I have time for just a few!
These are just a few of the raised beds my husband has designed and filled.

He has 3 more yet to go!
We have a load of rocks coming tomorrow to finally get our front yard looking up to par!!!
I have so much to share with you and NO time to do it.
Later!!

Tips and Tomatoes

I find myself at such an interesting place in my creative life right now!

I know I have so much to learn yet about photography and my camera, and you know what...it is easy to get discouraged!!

I have said it before and I will say it again, I don't know where I am going with this...but somewhere, I WILL go!
Please keep being patient with me as I work through these somewhat silly internal struggles.

I came across a page today which was very encouraging to this very thing.

A fellow named Jerry Ghionis had some tips and these were my favorites.

"Photograph your subject through the eyes of their loved ones."
Wow, I know I wanna do this!!!
I want to be able to, with a photograph, make you see what a loved one sees!
Whoa..talk about really taking some work, that is a challenge of great proportions!
A good goal to try to attain.

"Remember you don't have to be the best...just better than last week."
Now, that is encouraging, and so very right!
I have no desire to be compared to other peoples talent and expertise...I just wanna be me and do the very best I can with the knowledge I have. If that knowledge doesn't expand neither can my skill set.

"Shoot with empathy."
I hadn't really thought about this until reading this comment.
I am gonna think on it some more because it is such an interesting idea.

"If you want to be a better photographer, be a better person."
This shocked me!
It really did.
There was no other explanation, it was just left at that.

After mulling over these few pointers I found it interesting that the same pointers could be heartily applied to our spiritual life!
1. Look at people through the eyes of the one who loves them.
People can sometimes be hard to love, but if we see others with the love of Christ it takes on a whole different perspective!
2. You don't have to be perfect, just better than you used to be.
Hello, amen!!
Thank you God for your mercy and grace as we desperately try to walk down your path!
3. Live life with empathy!
Oh the world would be such a better place with more empathy!
4. To be a better person, be a better christian.
We must keep working at ourselves, striving...running!

I had no intention of writing all of that when I logged on...but such is life!
I actually came to share with you the progress my dear husband is making with our garden area.
To be more specific, the tomato portion of our garden area!!

Well, hello there lovely tomato plant, all new and fantastic there in the ground!!

I will do my best to love you and protect you from vermin and will send out my children to remove any weeds from your dirt and worms from your leaves.
(a girl has got her limits)

I told my husband that I bought 4 tomato plants. He says I bought 5.

Does a cherry tomato plant really count as a whole plant??
Ha ha, he says yes!

He managed to squeeze them all in lovingly though!

And then he gingerly added the plant food to the peppers and....

...to the tomatoes!

Apparently I bought a mild jalapeno, a yellow bell pepper and a dark colored bell pepper for this area.

I can't be held responsible for my actions when set loose at the store by myself to purchase food of any type.
I am an eater and a cooker and an enjoy-er of all things food related!
My precious dear husband of almost 20 years knows this about me and has dreamed up and made a reality this fantastic garden spot!
It is a twofold wonder.
He gets to garden, I get to eat.
I mean...I plan on sharing, sorry if that sounded like I wouldn't! Ha ha!

I will remind you again that is this spring break for my children, so life is topsy turvy...in a good way!
Who knows what adventures wait for us this week!?!

I am posting late again, I know!

It was a whirlwind day which ended with a lovely wedding at the ranch of a friend of ours.

This cake topper was PERFECT for this occasion!

I hope your day was as fantastic as mine!
Oh, don't forget to set your clock for spring forward!
Hey, ho...that reminds me...I must go change the time on my coffee pot or the morning could be a disaster!

Fun Friday!

I have had such a fun day!

My sister and brother in law are here!

We drank lots of coffee, had a scrumptious lunch, played a few hours of Rock Band, and laughed a ton!! I did not feel at all like a 40 year old mom of 3.

My brother in law made his famous, size of your palm cookies.
(Mine have salt, his do not. I like the salt...he knows this)

I will not have cookies for supper.

Ohhhhh boy, let me try that again....
I will not have cookies for supper.

What if I just take one little word out of that sentence?

I will not have supper.
Oh wait that was two words.

I am going to seriously try to not eat only cookies for supper...I am just being honest here!

This day begins Spring Break for my kids!
I guess I just wanted you to know that.

I must go eat.
Something.
Hmmmmmmmm.........

Light Pink

Good Morning Blog world!!
I wanted to get my post done early today as I have company in town and will be busy having assorted bouts of fun!!!

I walked outside this morning to put my children on the bus and got completely distracted by the drops of dew on the plants.
I am easily distracted!
I did see my children off, then rushed back in to get my camera!

It is a bit frustrating to imagine how a shot will look, take it in hopes that you are getting that shot, only to come in to load it and see it is not what you had in mind specifically!
That said, I still like this shot! Ha ha.

I wanted a specific drop of dew which didn't cooperate. Who ever heard of such a thing as uncooperative dew?

I am amazed that God made some plants so hearty to make it through several rounds of frost without a single burned out leaf.

How is it that a rose bush can produce such delicate flowers and yet be so NOT fragile?

I suppose God is just cool like that!!
Did that sound irreverent??? I hope not!
You gotta admit, God does plenty of cool stuff!!!

As I was walking my dog I remembered that it was COLOR THURSDAY!!!
Well, I was so excited about the dew I had forgotten.

My daughter chose light pink last week, so pink is where we have to go.
I am sorry.
Me and pink....not so much!!!
Before she was born I determined that purple would be her girlie color of choice.
Huh, funny how that didn't take!
Today I decided to try taking several photos of things the same color to see if I like that route better! If you have a preference let me know!
Pink

Pink

(Gagging a bit)

Pink!!!

This was the doggie treat container that came with Shelby when she arrived with all her worldly goods!
Ick, it makes my stomach turn a bit!!
I can't possibly leave you with that as the last thing in your brain today...let me go look for something else to post....

...be right back!

Ahhhh, yes this will do.
This was not taken today...duh!
But it does qualify in the light pink category!
Did you know the Texas Capitol building is a lovely pink granite?

Oh boy...gotta run again!
Later!!!

Wednesday shots!

I currently have 3 loads of laundry yet to accomplish with a load in each machine and 3 done!!!
Laundry is a full time job!!

I have to leave for Wednesday nite bible class in 7 minutes, so this will be another speedy post.

I made dumplings for the first time today!
We grew up with homemade noodles so I have a good excuse!

I must say I like noodles better, just a preference!

I did a teeny tiny bit of reading today about shooting into the sun.
I had about 3 minutes to give it a try today!
I have been thinking about how to best capture this spider web!

Not perfect, but a good start to a fun idea!

Here is another, even more cropped.

That is it, I gotta run!!
